SLIDESHOW – How to set up canvas
Slideshows and videos are in many of our lessons, but we also publish each one separately so you can find them without wandering through old posts aimlessly. Just enter text into the “search the site” field over to the right, for something you remember. It can be something that was in the photos or written in the text.

Slideshows are presented as a vertical stack of photos with captions, which are easy to zoom in on using your fingers to pinch on a touch screen or touchpad. Just scroll down to advance.

How to set up canvas sheets from a canvas pad

Here’s how to attach your canvas to a drawing board, which makes it easy to move and store even while it’s drying. All you need is some painter’s tape and a drawing board.

Tear a sheet of canvas out of your pad, holding onto a loose corner (not a corner near the glued end). Pull across at a 45 degree angle. It may take quite a tug for some of the pages, and if there are threads hanging, just snip them off.

The back of canvas is speckled and not as bright white. Never paint on this side. Always paint on the side that has been coated with the white gesso.

Pull some tape a little longer than one of the short edges of the canvas sheet.

Pinch with both hands, close together, and then you can tear the tape.

Make sure the tape is at least half on the drawing board and almost half or so on the canvas. Press down firmly all along the tape. Now you’re ready to begin.
